CURRENT PROJECT IMPLEMENTED BY EPDO

1) Enhance Agri-Food Security, Safety and Quality Standards:

  • Promoted agri-food value chains in crop production, quality and post-harvest management improved
  • Increased production of high value crops, differentiated produce
  • Increased food safety and quality of agriculture produce
  • Enhanced agriculture sector productivities, commercialize and contract farming
  • Diversified agriculture for crops, livestock and aquaculture, fisheries
  • Improved quality of the products, packaging, labelling produce
  • Enhanced clean facilities, pest control management
  • Controlled contaminated agriculture products and traceability
  • Promoted Good Agriculture Practices for Crops, Good Aquaculture Practice (GAqP), Good Animal Husbandry Practice (GAHP)
  • Promoted Organic produce and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS)

2) Improve Conservation and management of biodiversity and natural resources:

  • Sustained natural resources and biodiversity management
  • Improved management structure of CF & CFi management and functioned the Roles and Responsibilities
  • Promoted awareness on Tonle Sap biospheres reserve and Central Cardamom Protected Areas
  • Enriched planting flooded forest, forest resources, and other technical aspect to enrich resources and sustainable management plan on community forest, community fisheries and community protected areas to maintain ecosystems
  • Established community forestry, community fisheries or CPA to manage NR
  • Sustained Agroecology and Agroforestry practices within the CF, CPA and landscape
  • Integrated the community action plans into CIP & CDP to ensure their needs are included into those plans and mobilize resource supports.
  • Strengthened conservation mechanisms for fisheries, and forest based management

3) Improve management and adaptive capacity to DRR, Climate Change Adaptation and Resiliency:

  • Adapted and resilient capacity for climate change and risk disarster
  • Set recovery and response action plan
  • Functioned DRR management structure for roles responsibilities to improve to prepare for various disasters
  • Preparedness action plan developed and Response well
  • Promoted participation and protection of adaptive society and climate change to reduce the loss and damage of resources
  • Developed Contingency plans and operated to assist CCDM, DCDM, VDMG
  • Developed and implemented District level Emergency Preparedness Response Plan (EPRPs)
  • Strengthened the capacity of local farmers to select varieties that need less water and plan for irrigated systems that are less adapted to climate change
  • Proper used of Developed materials and tools for climate and environmental change
  • Mainstreamed knowledge and transferring climate and environmental issues in local planning

4) Improve Good Local Governance:

  • Capacitated commune council capacity to prepare planning, implementation and monitoring the results
  • Integrated the prioritized project investment into commune development plan (CDP) and commune investment plan (CIP)
  • Capacitated Commune Committee for Women and Children (CCWC) to take a lead in child friendly community service delivery to children, youth and marginalized groups
  • Promoted Public social accountabilities and awareness at local authorities
  • Identified issues and needs to assist local planning and budgeting committees for local planning

5) Enhance Education Quality, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and HEALTH Standard Operation Practices:

  • Enhanced Education quality at school with for children basic needs in studying and training aids equipped to teachers
  • Enhanced health care standard operation practices from infected COVID-19 and transmittable diseases outbreak in the communities and schools
  • Community-led total sanitation are effectively managed
  • Promoted open defection free (ODF) for health and well-being of rural people with numbers of toilet delivered
  • Promoted School and community Hygienic practices for healthy live
  • Improved community-managed water supplies for better live
  • Functioned Water supply user group (WSUG) for irrigation
  • Managed and effectively utilize of reservoir and water tank storage to supply water as needed
  • Equipped the equipment and materials for disinfection and preventive measure tools for healthy communities

Background

Environmental Protection and Development Organization, EPDO, is a non government / nonprofit organization which is not related to politics or any political party. EPDO was established in 1998 in order to take action in the face of negative natural resource management and environment. EPDO was also setup to improve the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable in the Kingdom of Cambodia. EPDO was recognized and registered with the Ministry of Interior on 06th July, 1998, (No 494 S.Ch.N)
